Don’t Quit

I shared this public-domain poem at the Oregon Christian Writers Cascade Writing Contest Awards Ceremony on June 25, and decided to share it here as well.

Don’t Quit by John Greenleaf Whittier

When things go wrong, as they sometimes will;
When the road you’re trudging seems all uphill;
When the funds are low and the debts are high;
And you want to smile but you have to sigh.
When all is pressing you down a bit —
Rest if you must, but don’t you quit.

Success is failure turned inside out;
The silver tint on the clouds of doubt;
And you can never tell how close you are;
It may be near when it seems far.
So stick to the fight when you’re hardest hit —
It’s when things go wrong that you must not quit.

I am a Jesus Freak, and I don't care who knows it. I am a wife, mother, sister, aunt, daughter, and friend. My blood family is only part of the larger family of Christ that I belong to. I love to write, especially about my dear Savior.
