Flustered Feline
He’d roar if he could
I know it
But chattering
Is the best he can muster
You can tell he’s flustered
Because that dark-eyed Junco
And the American Finches
Are out of his reach
He doesn’t know
That even so
He’s much too slow

It’s the first Quadrille of the year for the prompt at dVerse Poets Pub. De Jackson is tending bar and looking for 44 words per poet, one of which must be some form of roar. Head on over and see what other poets are roaring, I mean writing, about.
If he ever caught one it would be the biggest shock of his life lol.
So true! He is the slowest pouncer ever.
Ah, Linda, my cat Mojo is the same, whereas Luna, the older one, is an adept huntress! You’ve captured the sounds and the stance well in quadrille and photo.
Thanks.
That what is inside matters most. He is cute.
Thanks. He’s a pretty good cat.
I like that opening line, “He’d roar if he could”
Animals are always so entertaining.
They are indeed.
Lovely quadrille (and picture).
Thanks.
lol a tame tiger following his instincts, well described!
A hopeful lad. I bet he runs from widow to window trying for a better look:) Poor baby.
Pat
Different windows offer different birds. The feeder in this window is new, so he’d super excited about these birds so close.
I hope it’s fun for him:)
I think his inner spirit roars. I am glad he can’t catch the birds.
Me too. He does have multiple windows to watch them from, including a kitchen window with hummingbirds right outside!
Aww that window that barrier boo to one side horaah to the other side. Thats life
Happy Monday Linda
Much✏love
He has only himself to blame for not being allowed outside. He climbs tall trees and can’t get down.
It is good that he can’t reach them. I like his silhouette in the light of the window.
I agree. Our old cat used to catch birds and I didn’t like it much.
Ah, we have one of those flustered felines living with us, but it’s a visiting feral black cat who drives him to distraction. His yowls are hair-raising!
The neighbor cat in our yard gets more than chatters, but he thankfully doesn’t come around too often.
I love everything word of this Linda.
🙂
Our old Tom was an outside cat, and a bird killer, leaving their corpses on our porch. He even manage to kill a crow.
We used to have a cat named Tom who was an indoor / outdoor cat and also caught many birds, though never a crow. He even brought me a live one once or twice.
I’ve heard that sound and it is pitiful lol.
Yes, pitiful indeed.
LOVE this, Linda. We have a giant of a black cat ourselves, and we call our sliding glass door “Bird TV.” 😉
We have hummingbird feeders out our kitchen window and I often catch him sitting on the counter next to the sink. My husband calls it the catbird seat. 😉
I think he believes himself lion in some ways.
Or a jaguar. He does have the panther / jaguar strut when he walks down the hall.
