The Lambs Came In

As the lambs were brought to town
To Jerusalem for the sacrifice
Passover festival as God decreed
Spotless lambs they came in

The Lamb of God came to town
Riding on a donkey colt
To be the final sacrifice
Once for all the Spotless Lamb

On this day they hailed Him King
They cried Hosanna waving palms
called Him blessed of the Lord
They failed to understand

He came not to be served
Not for earthly political power
He came to serve and to die
The perfect sinless offering

No more would lambs be slain
To atone for the people’s sins
Once His divine blood was shed
It was finished as He said

He was not the king they expected
He was the King we all need
One who would suffer all
That we might truly be free

    Awesome.

Although He was not the King they expected, He fulfilled all of the prophecies spoken in the Old Testament for the Messiah first coming. Now, He will soon fulfill His second coming.
