My Dog Spike

If you knew a dog named Spike
was coming to visit

Would you expect a Great Dane?
Perhaps a Pit Bull?

Maybe a Caucasian Mountain Dog
They are huge and intimidating

Because Spike screams intimidation,
doesn’t it?

But not if it was my dog . . .

For Quadrille Monday at dVerse Poets Pub, De is calling for 44-word poems using the word Spike. So the cutie pie in the picture is not actually named Spike, but that’s what I wanted to call him. I always wanted a little dog named Spike. But this guy’s name is equally imposing and intimating: Roman.

  1. Why not… he should have a name to be proud of.

It is good to know that a dog named “Spike” need not be intimidating.
