Paint Chip Poetry Prompt #39

It’s week 39 and once again I’m scrambling late on Thursday night to get this prompt scheduled to go live by 7 a.m. on Friday. It is also another one of those off weeks where I throw in some angel card words.

Plus, this week we will be using the very last prompt card from the Paint Chip Poetry deck. That means next week I’ll be featuring the prompt theme suggested by my cousin Ron. After that, I’m open to suggestions for prompt themes.

The Challenge

This week we’re writing about Yours Truly. Which doesn’t mean you have to write about me, but you could. Or you could write a letter to someone and sign it Yours Truly. Letter poems can be fun. Let your imagination and creativity run wild with this one.

The paint chip words to include are blue moon, hot lava, babbling brook, and pollen. The angel card words are courage, harmony, and humour (these must be British or Canadian angels). I’m leaving it wide open for how many of these words you want to use. Use them all or just pick one.

My Poem

I decided I’m going with my letter-poem idea. Or maybe just a postcard note.

My Dear,
How I wish you were here with me.
You would have reminded me to take my allergy meds
and this pollen wouldn't have made me oh so drear.
This excursion is not the same without your humour
to lighten the mood. This babbling brook might as well
be hot lava flowing over my feet for all the joy it brings.
And I don't have the courage to trek up to the overlook
to view the blue moon without you by my side.
The birds sing in perfect harmony yet it is noise
to my ears without you here. Join me soon or I shall perish.
Yours truly,
Me

Okay, that might not fit on a postcard unless I wrote very tiny.

Your Turn

Now it’s your turn to be inspired by this prompt. I almost wish that up in the Challenge section I’d insisted on everyone writing a letter-poem, but it’s too late now. So write what you wish. Then you can post it in the comments below. Or if you prefer, post it on your blog and share a link in the comments. Be sure to link back here so your readers can join the fun and write their own Yours Truly poem.

I am a Jesus Freak, and I don't care who knows it. I am a wife, mother, sister, aunt, daughter, and friend. My blood family is only part of the larger family of Christ that I belong to. I love to write, especially about my dear Savior.
