Where This Road Leads
I know full well where this road leads
The end is my desire and goal
But I know not how long it be
Or what lurks beyond the next knoll
My Companion knows, but won’t tell
I must trust that He’s in control
He’ll never leave me as I trudge
Toward rest for my weary soul
The prompt at dVerse Poets Pub today is to write an octet with the road as a theme. For more road-themed octets, head over to dVerse and click on Mr. Linky.
This is also my Day 21 post for NaPoWriMo2015.
very much like a Psalm…facing the unknown, but knowing the one who does know the way.
I do love the Psalms and I suspect my writing is influenced by them.
I love this. It is nice to remember that we are never alone in whatever path we take and that wherever we go, there is only one ultimate destination. 🙂
To have a companion to guide or support you through this path is wonderful.
Nicely done…we are all one and have the same feelings as we wander and wonder.
Bravo. This resonates with me in a number of ways. Thank you.
trudge and weary soul go together
Things Could Be More Reliable
Ah.. yes GOD does
know now.. as tHere
is no escape from life
as is in living loving it
as well as we can for
now.. as one race of
human beings joining
in on living life as is now..:)
A nice way of cheering up when feeling lonesome.
Thanks, I’m glad you found some cheer in this. Peace, Linda
It’s good to feel that we are not alone.
yes… he’s always by your side.
faith and trust – and a companion who is worthy of them is a great comfort indeed.
Well and lovingly written.
Linda, I think the Companion knows the route better than anyone. We just have to trust and follow the Way.
Yep, I know He knows, and the older I get the more content I am with not knowing all the details in advance.
I second Glenn, Linda. Your poem is a declaration of faith and trust but could also be read in a number of other ways.
Rest for the weary souls, I like the ending line ~
cleverly written; more than a declaration of faith, it could suffice metaphorically as several other themes; nicely done.
