May Day
My eyes have seen the bleeding hearts and iris bursting forth
All the lilacs blooming with their intoxicating scent
Yesterday was April, now my favorite month is here
Divine creation reveals to us its most beautiful vibrant colors
All the perennial flowers blooming in God’s great timing
Year after year they faithfully grace our garden and our lives

It’s funny how the poet’s brain works. When you spend a month writing a poem a day, you can’t just turn it off because it’s the first of May. A habit has formed that won’t easily be broken. And so as I was getting ready for work this morning, this poem began to write itself in my mind.
It is not the worst habit to have. Me too. Lovely poem.
