My Bamboo Spark and Writing Again

I am excited to report that I have once again gotten my Bamboo Spark to work. It’s a gadget that converts my handwriting to digital text that I can then email to myself. The last time I tried to use it, I got nothing but error messages when I clicked the “Convert to Text” button. But I reinstalled the app on my phone and it’s working again!

That means I will likely be writing more, especially poetry. I find words come more easily with a pen in my hand than with a keyboard at my finger tips. Pen and paper is my cure for writers block.

Yesterday, I actually wrote two poems, plus some other stuff. I thought I’d share the first poem with anyone who still finds their way to this blog that’s lain nearly dormant for so long.

Focus on the Light

Like a shadow it lingers
On the edge of light
On the edge of darkness
In the in-between places
Sometimes I can ignore it
Look focused into the light
But then I glimpse it
Out of the comer of my eye
Biding its time waiting
To suck me back into darkness
To turn my whole focus
Toward the hurt and the pain
A past that never changes

I know my past doesn’t define me
My identity is not victim
My identity is not broken one
My identity is not powerless little girl
I am redeemed, restored, powerless no more
My identity is in Christ
He is the Light
The darkness can’t overcome Him
The darkness will never have me again
Even though in the shadows it lingers
It will not prevail
Over the Light that is mine

I am a Jesus Freak, and I don't care who knows it. I am a wife, mother, sister, aunt, daughter, and friend. My blood family is only part of the larger family of Christ that I belong to. I love to write, especially about my dear Savior.
