I’m Ready

Yesterday morning I opened the shade on the East-facing window of my bedroom, and I saw gray skies and clouds. I thought to myself, “Great, a dreary day to match the way I feel today.” But by mid-day, the clouds were gone and the sun was shining. I was listening to Third Day in my car, and the song Ready came on, and I decided that was how I was going to approach the day, as well as the weeks ahead.

I’m ready for the winds to change
I’m ready for a brighter day
I’m ready for the sun to shine down on me
I’m waiting for a song to sing
I’m looking for a brand new thing
I’m ready now to live a life that I believe

I want the world to turn because of love
And mercy to find each of us
Doing what we can to just believe
I want the world to know that You’re the One
Who fills me up and gives me hope
And brings about this change that’s in me
Oh yeah, I’m ready, yeah
You know I’m ready now

This morning when I opened that same shade on that same window, the sun came blasting in to remind me that God is good. After the gray, there is always the sun. It’s been an absolutely beautiful day all day! Even though I’ve had to be in my office working all day, and will be at work late tonight, I can still feel the Love of God that makes the world turn and the Mercy that He gives as the lyrics to this song continue to play in my head.

A later part of this song says:

I can’t sit around waiting for it all to change
It’s gonna take every single one of us doing what we can
There’s lots of fighting in this world but there’s so much loving, too
So take my hand, I’m ready now for you

I’ve decided to focus on the love, not the fighting. I’ve decided to focus on the hugs and tears of love, and not the hateful words I might hear. I’ve decide I’m ready for whatever God has in store, and I’m going to do my part to make the world a more loving place. How about you? Are you ready, too?

I am a Jesus Freak, and I don't care who knows it. I am a wife, mother, sister, aunt, daughter, and friend. My blood family is only part of the larger family of Christ that I belong to. I love to write, especially about my dear Savior.
