How to Pray

Jesus taught us how to pray
Still we try our own way

We ask for this, we ask for that
We tell Him what we need, and  STAT

With a quick Amen we close
But seldom find sweet repose

If only we would first off praise
And intercession for others raise

Then stop and listen to the Lord
Peace would be our great reward

He would offer what we need
When to His will we do concede

This is my first poem for National Poetry Writing Month. The prompt at NaPoWriMo.net is for a how-to poem.

I am a Jesus Freak, and I don't care who knows it. I am a wife, mother, sister, aunt, daughter, and friend. My blood family is only part of the larger family of Christ that I belong to. I love to write, especially about my dear Savior.
