Silent Whisper
I hear her whisper in the darkness
Sometimes in the light
I hear her giggle from beneath
the frilly dresses at Costco
Can I have one, Mommy?
She’s not really there
I silenced her voice
thirty-five years ago
But Jesus whispers, She’s with me

Very moving share Linda ~
Touching.
So powerful. Wishing you peace.
Profoundly deep and touches a memory in me. Personally for me the poem is more powerful without the last line but I understand the comfort it brings.
There is power in despair and power in hope. If not for hope, despair would destroy me.
I hear you Linda and as a writer I often wonder if these two are twin souls…one cannot exist without the other perhaps.
So few words that take the reader on this journey — and then the beautiful last words of hope. Lovely.
Whew. This punched me in the gut, and then in just one (last) line, brought me peace again. He does that, doesn’t He? Beautiful, Linda.
Yes He does. First draft didn’t have that line but it was too depressing.
Real, though. Which is good, too. Sometimes we just need to dig deep and show our whole raw heart in our writing, just as we take it to Him.
This is so good , Linda. Blessings!
I liked the last line.
Thanks. Me, too. It gives me a sense of peace and forgiveness that I very much need.
