Have Faith – A Triolet
At dVerse Poets Pub today, Samuel Peralta shared an awesome lesson on triolets for the Form for All post. It looked like a very interesting poetry form so I decided to give it a try. I actually coupled it with the idea of a “found poem” using Bible verses about faith that I was trying to work on last night, but didn’t get very far.
Have Faith
Have faith in God, be sure of His promise
We live by faith, and not by sight, we live
By grace we have been saved, a gift from God
Have faith in God, be sure of His promise
Since what we see through faith we remain awed
Drawing near to Jesus with sincere hearts
Have faith in God, be sure of His promise
We live by faith, and not by sight, we live
A wonderful use of the form – well done …

How thankful we are that we live by faith, because if we had to live by sight, we would be doomed. There is so much camouflaged evil around.
How thankful we are that we are saved by grace, because if it depended on us we would be doomed.
What an amazing God!
I love how you end every comment with a reminder of what an amazing God we have! 🙂
This is really lovely and wonderful–and I hope that is alright to say today.
Why would that not be alright to say on any day? I’m glad you liked it. This was definitely a God-inspired poem (especially since most of it is pulled from scripture, which is always lovely and wonderful). 🙂 Peace, Linda
i like the repetition of we live a lot here linda…no matter how much we really see…we live..i like
Linda,
What a “small world” the blogosphere is…find some of your work on another site the other day—really liked it. Didn’t know you were also involved with dverse…my wife is pretty active there as well.
Another great write! I gave this a go as well, so come check it out when you get a chance.
The blogosphere is indeed a small world for how far flung it’s inhabitants are! I will definitely come check out your triolet. What a fun form this was! Peace, Linda
A message from the heart, and using the form very well to bring it to life. Nicely done!
nice…def like what you did with your anchor line ending it with we live so it threads well but also end on it as well…you did well…
Faith is the certainty of what we have not seen – and you’ve captured it well in this triolet.
Like the way you’ve used the form to your own purposes.
Linda, so much to love in this! I love the poem itself. And then I love that this is what you were working on and how He then brought you to a new form to put it with and here we go! 🙂 so I guess what I’m saying is that I love your poetry and then I love how He is bringing it forth in your life. God bless you as you keep your pen ready for Him!
Ah, that final twist in the last line, ending on “we live” is the essence of what makes for a great triolet. Bravo!
Thank you! Not bad for my first try. This form was really fun. 🙂 Peace, Linda
Really cool! I’ve never seen triolets before. Good job and thanks for sharing.
Thanks! I’ve never heard of a triolet before either. I learn so much from the folks at dVerse Poets Pub. Peace, Linda
Not a poet myself. But surfing around wordpress has heightened my appreciation for it. I’ll check them out. Thanks again.
