Gratitude – A Poem

This past Sunday in church we learned about gratitude. When I sat down at the computer to write about what we learned on Sunday, I decided to go back and read the poem I had written on gratitude. I was sure I had written an acrostic titled “Gratitude” because for all the months I’ve been doing a Thankful Thursday poem it seemed like I couldn’t possibly have missed this one.

Turns out I was wrong. I have never written an acrostic poem specifically titled “Gratitude,” though I have certainly expressed my thankfulness and gratitude each week for this Thursday theme. I decided, however, it was time to remedy the situation and so here is my poem on gratitude.

GRATITUDE

God of Glory in Heaven above
Reaching down to me in love
Alight upon me like a dove
Thankfulness fills my heart
Indebted to You from the start
Time will not keep us apart
Unable to pay for my own sin
Dying for me You did win
Emmanuel dwells within

I am a Jesus Freak, and I don't care who knows it. I am a wife, mother, sister, aunt, daughter, and friend. My blood family is only part of the larger family of Christ that I belong to. I love to write, especially about my dear Savior.
