I’m going to sound like a broken record, but as you can see I’m late again with this Friday’s prompt. But we’re still having another octave prompt in the continuing poem of five octaves. For the definition of octave and the full prompt, see this post from three weeks ago.
The Challenge
The paint chip words and phrases you have to work with this week are rolling hills, smoke and ash, radical, smoke signal, and dragon. I’d like you to use at least two of these in your octave for this week. Your octave should be a continuation of what you started on the first Friday of October. If you haven’t started your poem yet, you can always just write a stand-alone octave for this week.
My Poem
Although my continuing saga of my teddy bear Calvin has been partially fictional already, the words for this week suggest a venture into a truly fictional and aspirational adventure for my bear. But the I venture into his origin story, which I will wrap up next week in the final octave.
Though I'm usually a down-to-earth kind of bear I often dream of trekking over the rolling hills Of Middle Earth on a hobbit's adventurous affair We would look for dragon treasure and great thrills But perhaps such a dream is much too radical For a elderly teddy bear such as I am And it's not as if the life I've lived is dull It began as part of a claw-machine grand slam
