O Patience, Where Can You Be Found?

I am not naturally a patient person. Impulsive is an adjective that better describes me. It’s why I like blogging. I can write something—a poem or an article—and immediately post it for the world to read. No waiting. Zero patience required.

Building a Platform

My lack of patience makes waiting to find a publisher for my memoir challenging. But I know I am not meant to self-publish it. God is using this process to teach me patience.

Part of the waiting involves building my platform, which is just a fancy publishing word for the people you can reach with your message. My current platform is not as big as most publishers want.

One aspect of building a platform is having articles published in magazines, newspapers, and other websites (ones with a bigger reader base than I have here).

And here’s the rub: when you submit articles and poems for others to publish you have to wait to hear whether your work is accepted. You have to be patient.

Did I mention I’m not naturally very patient? Thankfully I have a God who helps me.

But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,  gentleness, and self-control.

Galatians 5:22-23 NLT (emphasis added).

How Can You Help?

So I’m patiently building my platform, researching publications to submit articles to, writing articles and submitting them, then waiting.

I would love to know what publications—whether in print or online—that you read. What are some places I should consider submitting articles to? Where is my message of fearlessness, forgiveness, and God’s grace needed?

I would also love it if you would subscribe to my newsletter. You might have seen the pop-up for it and, as I often do on other sites, hit the X and made it go away. If you did, and now want to subscribe, you can do that AND get a free gift.

Click on I Believe You! (to get a guided poetry journal) or All Creation Sings (to get an eBook of pictures and haiku). Choose the free gift that would bless you the most.

I’m waiting patiently.
