The Apostles’ Creed
I believe in God, the Father Almighty,
maker of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, and born of the virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried.
He descended into hell.
On the third day He rose again from the dead.
He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of the Father.
He will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the Holy catholic* Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting.
Amen.
* The term “catholic” with a lowercase c means universal.
Yeeaaa ! Right on sister!
So glad to find this here, Linda! So glad for your statements of faith!
In Him,
Maria
Lovely! 🙂
I may prefer a more elaborated creed, but again the idea itself of posting the creed on your blog is awesome!
Mike, I like both the Nicene Creed and the Athanasian Creed, but thought for purposes of my blog this basic Apostles’ Creed was appropriate. It provides a brief summary of what I believe for any who visit. Peace, Linda
That’s so true! God bless you 🙂
Love your verse for the week. It’s all Grace !!!! 🙂
Looking forward to reading more of your posts.
Margaret, I sometimes get behind in changing my “Verse of the Week,” and need a little grace myself! 😉 Glad you liked this one, it’s one of my favorites. Peace, Linda
Hi, You must be Lutheran. You made sure everyone knows that the small C stands for universal.
Also, you used the words, ‘ Board of Elders ‘
Found your blog from your post on Broken Believers.
Blessings to you,
Margaret – Lutheran
Margaret, I do attend a Lutheran church – we belong to the Lutheran Congregations in Mission for Christ denomination – but I am first and foremost a follower of Christ. I do like the Lutheran emphasis on grace, though, and my husband was raised Lutheran. So glad you found your way over from Broken Believers. What a great site that is, and I am so blessed that Pr. Lowe has asked me to be a contributor there. Welcome to my blog. Peace, Linda
