Last week we started a month-long quest to write five octaves that are connected as a single poem. My apologies for the late posting of this week’s edition. It’s been that kind of week.
For the definition of octave and the full prompt, see this post from last week.
The Challenge
The challenge this week is to write the second octave of your poem. The five paint chip words and phrases you have to work with are after the fire, shark, bramble, tickled pink, and bittersweet. I would like you to use at least two of these in your octave. You can use the same rhyme scheme as last week, or mix it up. But this week’s stanza should connect with last week’s.
My Poem
Last week I started a poem about my teddy bear Calvin. Let’s see how his adventures continue.
Sometimes you'll find me hiding in the dark At the end of a day that was bittersweet But I shant be swimming with a shark Nor will an octopus be a creature I'll greet My favorite girl loves to snorkel in the sea But I'm tickled pink at the resort poolside The salty water is not good for me In busy pools left by the ebbing tide
Your Turn
Now it’s your turn. If you participated last week, bring us octave stanza number two of your continuing saga. If you weren’t able to join in last week, you can start fresh with this week’s paint chip words and phrases, or you could be ambitious and write two stanzas, one with last week’s words and one with this week’s. Share your poem in the comments or post it on your website or blog and drop a link in the comments.
