It’s week three of my August prompts and today, as I write this two days early, it is suddenly much cooler. The hot August temps disappeared overnight. And that is the inspiration for my poem today.
The Challenge
But first, the challenge for the day. The three paint chip words and phrase for today are breath of fresh air, bronze, and chanterelle. And there will be negative bonus points for anyone who tries to convince me, via their poem, that chanterelles are good to eat.
As with the last two weeks, I’m asking for a poem of exactly 31 words, not counting the title. Of course, a title is optional. You could also write one 31-word stanza for each of the prompt words and phrase, for one longer poem. Or just write more than one poem if more than one of these paint chips appeals to you.
My Poem
Temperatures plummet
to below average while
winds carry wildfire smoke
eastward
and finally I can inhale
a breath of fresh air
I love the warmth of August
but this we needed
