It’s week two of my paint chip short verse challenge. As I mentioned last week, I’m pressed for time right now, beholden to the deadlines of publishers. My self imposed deadlines have taken a back seat. But I didn’t want to let the paint chip prompts languish entirely.
The Challenge
This week’s paint chip words and phrases are corn maze, obsidian, and matcha.
Once again, I would like you to pick just one of these words or phrases and write a poem of exactly 31 words (because there are 31 days in August). The title, if you want to have one, is not included in the word count.
If you’re feeling super ambitious, you could write a separate poem using each of the paint chips. I won’t be doing that, but you certainly could.

My Poem
I’ve decided to work with obsidian today. It is a beautiful stone.
Dark Beauty red hot magma spews forth violently from living volcano yet quickly cools in night air hardens surrounding landscape into dark obsidian dull and ordinary polished becomes shining black beauty prized stone
