Paint Chip Poetry Prompt #21

Can you believe we made it to week 21? Was it worth waiting for? I hope so. I know I’ve been having tons of fun along the way.

The Challenge

We have all become quite accustomed to waiting these days. But is what we are waiting for, well, worth the wait? Only time will tell. In the meantime, your challenge is to write a poem about something or someone who is worth waiting for using at least five of the following paint chip words and phrases: field of poppies, nursery, pine, looking glass, disco fever, iris, and tulips in spring.

Here’s My Poem

If I hadn’t randomly pulled these words from the paint chip box myself, I would doubt they were truly random. When five of the seven have to do with plants, it does seem incredibly unlikely. But stranger things have happened and I’m tickled that these are the words and phrases for this week’s poem.

The End of Winter

Winter is long and often cold
But its end is worth waiting for

Warmer days are to pure gold
Tulips in spring are the first sign

A trip to the nursery foretold
Flower and plants galore

Prolific iris bulbs so bold
My favorite garden blooms

A field of poppies unfolds
Coloring a hillside in bloom

No need to ever behold
Life through the looking glass

Or pine for spring days of old
Because each spring comes anew

Your Turn

I can’t wait to read what you all have to share. Post your poem in the comments below, or post it on your blog and link to your poem in the comments.
