Paint Chip Poetry Prompt #16

It’s week 16 of Paint Chip Poetry! It’s hard to believe how time flies, even when you’re stuck at home because of a pandemic.

So this week’s topic is pilgrimage. Oh what cruel fate, since many people can’t literally go on a pilgrimage anywhere right now. Perhaps it will have to be a pilgrimage in the mind, or a reflection on a pilgrimage of the past, or hopefulness for a future pilgrimage when the world gets back to normal.

The Challenge

The paint chip words and phrases for this week are wishing well, dewdrop, Niagara Falls, foggy harbor, antique rose, aura, and Grand Canyon. Your challenge this week is to use at least five of these words in your poem, including either Niagara Falls or Grand Canyon. Extra points if you use them all. Double extra points if you can make me want to go on the pilgrimage you describe.

My Poem

Pilgrimage of the Newlyweds

She imagined the alluring aura
like a crown of joy upon her head
her laughing smile to complement
the antique rose honeymoon frock

She was thinking of the wishing well
where two bits and a yearning for love
had brought her this handsome beau
with imposing height and equal grin

A traveling twosome undaunted
they were by a foggy harbor to traverse
on their blissfully harmonious trip
to monumental Niagara Falls

Standing at a north rim railing
of the gargantuan Grand Canyon
pondering a dewdrop on cactus
the early morn brought new joy

Your Turn

Now it’s your turn. Post your poem in the comments, or post it on your own blog and include a link in the comments. I can’t wait to journey through your offerings.
