Oh, Mercy Me

Tonight I’m going to see the Christian band Mercy Me. I’m so excited! I have third row tickets and it’s going to be awesome. To start the celebration, I decided to write a found poem using the lyrics from some of my favorite Mercy Me songs.

Oh, Mercy Me

Have you ever met those who
Keep humming when the song’s through?
Such a tiny offering compared to Calvary nevertheless
The work’s already been done
I believe Your spirit is alive and on the move

When I am overwhelmed
Holding pieces of my heart
Hope don’t be a stranger
Won’t you help me make it through today?

Why this happened I cannot explain
Why write the script with such heartache and pain
Where Glory sends hopelessness away
Oh, Grace tells us another story
But if all that we do is absent of Jesus,
Then this so called love is completely in vain

I’m just a kid trying to make it home, that’s it
No more, no less
I gotta keep singing
I gotta keep praising Your name
I can only imagine when all I will do
Is forever—forever worship You

Rather than kick our wounded
We could just lift You up
You’re the love You give to me
You’re the love I give away

The love of God is greater far
Than tongue or pen can ever tell
Praise the Lord O my soul
And glory to the King

I am free
The hands that hold the world have set me free
I put my hope in You
I lay my life in palm of Your hand

You’re beautiful
You were meant for so much more than all of this
You were never meant to carry this beyond the cross
The cross has made you flawless

I am a Jesus Freak, and I don't care who knows it. I am a wife, mother, sister, aunt, daughter, and friend. My blood family is only part of the larger family of Christ that I belong to. I love to write, especially about my dear Savior.
