My Ace in the Hole

Some days I’ve been dealt
a miserable hand
no matching suits
nothing nearing a straight
not even a pair

But I’ve good cards too
A queen or four
Even a full house at times

And always I’ve had my
Ace in the Hole—Jesus

Today’s NaPoWriMo.net offering is using the jargon of the gambler’s profession, and is doubling as a Quadrille for the dVerse Poets Pub prompt calling for a 44-word poem using the word ace.

I am a Jesus Freak, and I don't care who knows it. I am a wife, mother, sister, aunt, daughter, and friend. My blood family is only part of the larger family of Christ that I belong to. I love to write, especially about my dear Savior.
