Gone Home

“Death is not a period but a comma in the story of life.” — Amos J. Farver

She’s gone home
and will be missed

She jumped the comma
and flew off to the second clause

Her beautiful soprano voice
and kind spirit graced this earth
but no more

Today she sings in the heavenly choir
and they’re blessed to have her

She always asked about my son
reminded me she prayed for him
I hope she prays for him still
now that she is nearer
the Prince of Peace to whom we pray

She was ready to go
though if the Lord had required it
she would have stayed
continued to sing and to serve and to praise

She leaves behind, for a time,
her husband and kids
her family and friends
I’ve been blessed to be among
we who called her beloved sister in Christ

Someday we’ll all go home, too

I am a Jesus Freak, and I don't care who knows it. I am a wife, mother, sister, aunt, daughter, and friend. My blood family is only part of the larger family of Christ that I belong to. I love to write, especially about my dear Savior.
