Voice of the Spies
Like the Israelites on the verge
of entering the Promised Land
I sometimes heed the voice of
the ten nay-saying spies
I make decisions
hold onto hopes
based on what I can accomplish
in my own power
I see only the obstacles
and the giants who oppose me
I want instead to trust my God
Like Joshua and Caleb
who spied the same land as the other ten
who saw the same giants
not as insurmountable obstacles
but as evidence that God would provide
Help me Lord to trust
You will overcome my obstacles
You will slay my giants
You will give me what You have promised
A life flowing with milk and honey
A beautiful poem about the essence of faith.
Your poems inspire me to keep trusting God. This is also very eloquently expressed.
Yay! Then it’s all worth the time and effort if I can inspire someone to trust God. 🙂
Love the message of trust and power in your words 💖
Thanks.
Good point: With our own power there are only obstacles and giants in the way.
I enjoyed this so much especially the trust in God. So wise and so very true!
Thanks!
Great analogy. When God is for us, who can be against? I like how you told this as a poetic narrative full of confidence.
Love that message of trust and power !
Linda, really like the telling way you tackle the issue of having faith here and how transformative that process can be…
Thanks.
I’m happy for you to have found your faith
