The Value of a Picture
This is for my cousin Ron Rowland
Ora and Bertha raised six kids
including my Daddy dear
My Daddy is gone
and all my aunts and uncles too
Pictures and memories
are all that are left
except the genes they passed on
to me and my sibling and cousins
Now some of them are gone as well
But where did we come from
we so want to know
so we research our DNA
find out we’re western European
Irish and Scandinavian
Yet somehow one picture
of Grandma and Grandpa
reveals so much more
than all the databases in the world
