I Am the Moon

I am the moon
shining the light of the sun
into a dark world

Some nights
I shine exquisitely bright

Tonight I wane
keeping the light to myself
I need it all to survive
for now

But fear not
I shall wax again

For yesterday’s Poetics prompt at dVerse Poets Pub, Grace is calling for poems about the moon personified. This is what I came up with.

About Linda Kruschke

I am a Jesus Freak, and I don't care who knows it. I am a wife, mother, sister, aunt, daughter, and friend. My blood family is only part of the larger family of Christ that I belong to. I love to write, especially about my dear Savior.

  1. I see this as a good metaphor for our life on so many levels: spiritual, emotional, physical and mental. We just have to keep on moving through “stuff.”

  2. You had me at the opening ❤ Beautifully penned, Linda 🙂

  3. Grace says:

Sometimes we need to keep the light for ourselves too! An insightful share Linda.

  4. whimsygizmo says:

Yes…the cycle of it all can be both frustrating and comforting, to be sure.

  5. Gorgeous Linda!

  6. Can I write one?

  7. I do like the thought of a moon who need some rest before waxing…
