I Am the Moon
I am the moon
shining the light of the sun
into a dark world
Some nights
I shine exquisitely bright
Tonight I wane
keeping the light to myself
I need it all to survive
for now
But fear not
I shall wax again

For yesterday’s Poetics prompt at dVerse Poets Pub, Grace is calling for poems about the moon personified. This is what I came up with.
I see this as a good metaphor for our life on so many levels: spiritual, emotional, physical and mental. We just have to keep on moving through “stuff.”
You had me at the opening ❤ Beautifully penned, Linda 🙂
Thanks. 🙂
Sometimes we need to keep the light for ourselves too! An insightful share Linda.
Yes…the cycle of it all can be both frustrating and comforting, to be sure.
Writing this for me was comforting, to realize that like the moon I am not required to shine God’s light all the time.
Gorgeous Linda!
Thanks!
Can I write one?
Of course you can. And you can link it from dVerse if you want to. It’s open to anyone.
I just wrote it on my phone. I’ll have to go back later to add any links. 🙂
I do like the thought of a moon who need some rest before waxing…
