The Spiritual Legacy of C.S. Lewis

Last night we went to see The Screwtape Letters performed by Max McLean. It was incredible! I love the book by C.S. Lewis and McLean brought it to life exquisitely. In honor of the play, I decided that for today’s Lent poem I would write a stack poem with all of the C.S. Lewis books I own, plus a couple about Lewis.

For those of you who don’t know, a stack poem is written by stacking up a selection of books and using the titles as the lines of the poem. So here is my C.S. Lewis inspired stack poem.

Words to Live By
about Mere Christianity
and The Weight of Glory

Lewis was Surprised by Joy
as he pondered The Problem of Pain
and experienced A Grief Observed

Miracles abound
when there is a Reflection on the Psalms
and The Four Loves

Oh, and The Screwtape Letters
came from Out of the Silent Planet
and The Dark Tower revealed
That Hideous Strength of evil

So often Lewis wrote
Letters to Children and
Letters to Malcolm (Chiefly on Prayer)

Between heaven and hell came
The Great Divorce

Poems written by one who knew God
was Not a Tame Lion as illustrated
in The Chronicles of Narnia

What a legacy, indeed
