Stars from Haleakala
Having watched the sun sink into the sea
amidst the valley of clouds
we waited there, my family and I
to view the starlit Hawaiian sky
On top of Haleakala the stars lit one by one
amidst a sea of blackened sky
as a chill descended upon the mountaintop
the Heavens shone bright
The sight was truly glorious from 10,000 feet
amidst the small cluster of visitors
who dared to brave the cold to see
God’s handiwork from on high

What a beautiful vision to hold dear!
Thank you! It certainly is.
What a wonderful sense of place… it had to be just wonderful to be there… almost like being in company of stars.
a beautiful sketch…
Oh Linda! Two wonderful poems! and I so enjoy you were inspired by another’s poems that was linked. This is what is wonderful about poetry – how we share and inspire each other. I think those stars must have been so inspiring to see them as you did. Thank you.
That must have been some view…the starlit Hawaiian sky ~
It was amazing!
What a beautiful vision, to see the stars so brilliantly bright…lovely.
Beautiful! It is special when you can see the stars unobstructed from city lights. Brings them closer it seems.
What an experience that must be!!
For me it was what made sunset better than sunrise on Haleakala. I don’t get to see stars like that where I live because of city lights, so it was wonderful.
Love it! Don’t you love when a poem makes you itch to write?
Yes, some poems won’t leave me alone until I commit them to paper (or computer). And then there are some that won’t leave me alone still. 😉
