Little Things – A Poem

I decided this morning that it was time to get back to the heart of Thankful Thursday and write a poem about the little things I am thankful for.

Little Things

I’m thankful for
the little things
I often take for granted

A soft warm bed
to sleep safely at night

The smell of coffee brewing
as I open my eyes each morn

A long hot shower
to start each new day

Music of all varieties
to suit my every mood

Granola and nuts with almond milk
to energize me on my way

Flowers blooming spring to fall
offering beauty to my eyes

Family and friends who help
bear the burdens of life

Access to the Word of God
in multiple translations

A means through prayer
to speak with my sweet Jesus

Freedom to enjoy the life
God has blessed me with

I know that freedom
is not a little thing
but makes these little things
and infinitely more
ever oh so sweet

7/26/13 Update: Decided to link this poem at dVerse Poets Pub where the Thursday prompt was to write list poetry. If you like this list, head over and see the examples Victoria gave and some poetry of the dVerse crowd.

I am a Jesus Freak, and I don't care who knows it. I am a wife, mother, sister, aunt, daughter, and friend. My blood family is only part of the larger family of Christ that I belong to. I love to write, especially about my dear Savior.
