The World Weeps – A Triolet
I missed Open Link Night at dVerse Poets Pub last week, so this week I wrote a poem on Sunday evening so I’d be ready.
The World Weeps
The world weeps for itself alone
Jesus wept with compassion, love
Knowing how lost we would become
The world weeps for itself alone
If we saw with our Savior’s eyes
What a difference we could make
The world weeps for itself alone
Jesus wept with compassion, love
May the Lord show me the way of compassion! Beautiful words.
Love, Gladwell
Gladwell, What a beautiful prayer! Peace, Linda

What a beautifully done triolet, showing us Jesus and His compassion and love. Thank you and God bless you!
Deb, You are so sweet! I do love this poetry form. 🙂 It works so well for Christian poetry. Peace, Linda
i really love the comparison between the world and jesus in those opening two lines…and the repeat of it at the end….very nice…
Thanks! I actually started with the two opening lines reversed, but I didn’t like how it ended, so I switched them. I think it turned out much better that way. 🙂 Peace, Linda
Nice, Linda! I’ve written only one triolet before and found it hard to avoid sounding repetitive and sing-songy. You did very well with this form!
Thanks Marilyn! I love this form, but you do have to start with just the right to opening lines to have it work out right. You should give it a try again. Peace, Linda
I might! I hadn’t done much with different forms until NaPoWriMo, a daily writing challenge I did in April. I liked how sometimes it’s like doing a puzzle. 🙂
