Running from Surrender

It’s three weeks until the Third Day concert! Yesterday on the way home from church we were listening to Third Day and my son asked me if they are my favorite Christian band. I said yes, and then he wanted to know why.

You might be wondering the same thing (or maybe not, but I’m going to tell you anyway). There are three reasons I love Third Day. The first is Mac Powell’s voice. The second is Mark Lee’s guitar playing. The third is that their music is uplifting, encouraging, and glorifies God. They always point the listener to Jesus.

Today I want to share a song from their newest CD Move. The name of the song is Surrender.

I love the guitar intro to this song – it’s very southern rock. But more important is the message.

So many people spend their whole lives running from God. They think that surrendering to God is the worst thing they could ever do. Surrender suggests weakness, and no one wants to be seen as weak.

But the reality is that the only path to true freedom is surrender to the will of God. A person can’t be free when they are on the run from the truth. Running is where true weakness is revealed.

Are you still running? Do you look in the mirror and wonder how you reached this point in your life? Are you pretending you are fine, when really you’re just dying inside? Are you looking for a solution to the dead end you’ve found yourself in?

The answer is surrender to a Creator who knows what is best for His Creation.

I am a Jesus Freak, and I don't care who knows it. I am a wife, mother, sister, aunt, daughter, and friend. My blood family is only part of the larger family of Christ that I belong to. I love to write, especially about my dear Savior.

  1. Wow. They really are a great band. I can see why you’re counting the days! : )

“It’s the end of the line, time to surrender… pretend that you’re fine, but you’d be lyin’.” A haunting reminder, and Mac Powell’s voice sure made me listen.

    • Linda, I’m glad you liked it. I do definitely love Mac’s voice. They have one song called “San Angelo” that I don’t really get. The lyrics themselves don’t speak to me and I can’t quite figure out what it means. But I listen through it anyway because of Mac’s voice. If anyone else was singing it I would just skip it. 🙂 Peace, Linda

  2. Oh we loved this! I’m so glad Third Day is your favorite Christian band. 🙂 That way I get to listen to them here a lot . teehee! God bless you and may we all surrender to Him each moment of the day.

    • Deb, My husband asked if the qualifier “Christian” was necessary. “Aren’t they just your favorite band?” he asked. Again I had to answer yes! 🙂 And I’m excited that I get to actually meet them this time before the concert. That will be cool. I’m glad you and Aubrey liked this one. Peace, Linda
