Rise Up in the Strength of Jesus

On May 6, I am going to see Third Day in concert (yes, again!). I’ve decided that for Music Monday between now and the concert I want to share some of my favorite Third Day songs and what they mean to me. The first one I want to share is called Rise Up and is from their Wherever You Are CD.

I love the perspective of this song. It is intended to be Jesus singing to you and me, calling us friend, just as He did in John 15:15 when He said: “I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you.”

Jesus came to find the lost, to save sinners, to give sight to the blind and strength to the weak. We all fit the description of who He came for, whether we realize it or not. Each of us has struggled at some point with trials that drag us down, we have each wrestled demons that have dragged us to our knees. Some of you reading this may be in that very position today, feeling like you have no hope of getting back up again.

But Jesus understands what has torn you apart and dragged you down. He is calling you to rise up in His strength, in the only power that can sustain you for a lifetime and beyond. He is calling you to a hope and a life like you have never known before. No matter what struggle you are in the midst of, Jesus can give you the strength to rise up and live again.

I am a Jesus Freak, and I don't care who knows it. I am a wife, mother, sister, aunt, daughter, and friend. My blood family is only part of the larger family of Christ that I belong to. I love to write, especially about my dear Savior.

  1. “Jesus came to find the lost”… and there are a bunch of ’em still out there. I really like the way this post reaches out to everyone, regardless of where their lives have been… (like an old-fashioned Baptist alter call). ; )

Fwiw… your passion for Chrstian music has rubbed off, and now when I turn on Moody Radio I actually know some of the songs, can sing some of the lyrics, and never change the dial. Thanks for such a fun and unexpected gift at your blog. ; )

    • Linda, I don’t know what I’d do if there wasn’t so much good Christian music available these days. And to have encouraged you to listen and enjoy it as well makes all my efforts at sharing it worthwhile. 🙂 Peace, Linda

  2. I didn’t know this one, Linda, but I loved it. They have a really great ministry of songs that reach out to us right where we are. So encouraging and fills us with hope! God bless you as you continue to share Him through His Word and songs and poems! love and prayers!

    • Deb, I knew you would like this one! I’ve been listening to this CD the past few days and I think there are at least 2 more from it that I want to share. (Actually, I like them all, but there are only so many Mondays.) Peace, Linda
