Your Love Heals – A Poem

I can’t remember what I was praying about the other day when this poem began to form in my mind. I had to quickly write it down in my journal before it got away from me. Though it’s not as if that ever happens with things I write in my head. They tend to swirl around until I write them down or type them up.

Your Love Heals

He took an innocence
I can never regain

You gave me innocence
no one can take away

He crushed my spirit
overcoming my will by force

You lifted my spirit
wooing me to relinquish my will
by Your love

He is my past
but he no longer shapes me

You are my present
shaping me in Your image

You are my future
promising peace and hope

You are my love and my light
making what he took irrelevant
insignificant compared
to what You give

I am a Jesus Freak, and I don't care who knows it. I am a wife, mother, sister, aunt, daughter, and friend. My blood family is only part of the larger family of Christ that I belong to. I love to write, especially about my dear Savior.

  1. Powerful and true.
People robbed me of my childhood but He gave me a lifetime of being His beloved adopted child.
People made me a man hater but He gave me a wonderful husband and five “perfect” sons.
He took my sin and gave me His righteousness.

    What an amazing Father God!

    • Angela, I love how you took the truth of this poem – which was based on my own experience – and made it your own! That is so cool. He is amazing, indeed! Peace, Linda

  2. Linda, this was so powerful and healing to read! It puts us into His love and hands and doesn’t allow our pasts to control us. I just love how you worded it , what he did versus what He did and does!
God bless you as you help others to Him for healing today!

    • Deb, I know people who are still allowing past trauma’s to dictate who they are, and it just doesn’t have to be that way. Jesus will heal if we are willing to forgive and focus on Him and not our past. Peace, Linda
