I can’t remember what I was praying about the other day when this poem began to form in my mind. I had to quickly write it down in my journal before it got away from me. Though it’s not as if that ever happens with things I write in my head. They tend to swirl around until I write them down or type them up.
Your Love Heals
He took an innocence
I can never regain
You gave me innocence
no one can take away
He crushed my spirit
overcoming my will by force
You lifted my spirit
wooing me to relinquish my will
by Your love
He is my past
but he no longer shapes me
You are my present
shaping me in Your image
You are my future
promising peace and hope
You are my love and my light
making what he took irrelevant
insignificant compared
to what You give
