The Wisdom to Blog

What began as a discipline has become an obsession. I can’t think of anything to write today, but I can’t bear to not post something in my blog. Sundays are the only day I don’t feel the compulsion to post something, anything. Except a new Verse of the Week, which I change on Sunday.

I don’t want my post to be just anything. I want it to be something that inspires, encourages, or instructs at least one reader. I want to come back to my blog later and find a comment or that I have had multiple page views, to know that someone is reading.

Maybe that is why I’m having writer’s block today. Maybe this has become too much about me, and not enough about God. I try to make it about God. Did I really write that? “I try?” This may be the problem in a nutshell. I try instead of rely on God. Hmmm.

“For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be the glory forever! Amen.” Romans 11:36.

I cannot write from my own wisdom and the well of my own knowledge. Even the apostle Paul did not write from his own understanding. Repeating what Paul had taught, Peter said,

“Bear in mind that our Lord’s patience means salvation, just as our dear brother Paul also wrote you with the wisdom that God gave him.” 2 Peter 3:15.

I’ve been so busy today I haven’t had a chance to stop and ask God for His wisdom. Or more accurately, I haven’t taken the opportunity to do so. I know that when I do ask, He is faithful to keep His promise to provide. “If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him.” James 1:5.

The wisdom of God is a wonderful thing, greater than any wisdom of man. And it is free for the asking. It is what Solomon asked for, and his reward was wisdom and so much more. Have you stopped to ask God for wisdom today?
