Blogging for Lent

Yesterday was Easter Sunday and the season of Lent is now over. I determined at the beginning of Lent that I would blog every day (except Sundays) during Lent, and I succeeded. This is the first time I have ever decided to do something for Lent and actually followed through!

There were days when it was hard because I felt like I didn’t have time or I didn’t have anything to write, but somehow I always found the time and the words. In fact, on the days when I felt like I had the least to say, it was then that I received comments that what I wrote was exactly what someone needed to hear.

The experience of blogging daily has been amazing. My blog stats have increased dramatically. Before I started blogging every day, I averaged 10 to 20 page views per week. In the past 5 weeks I have had over 200 page views per week. My monthly page view stats look like this:

November: 107
December: 108
January: 147
February: 232
March: 1,011

But it’s really not about the numbers. It’s more about the relationships and my walk with God. I have found a number of fellow bloggers whose blogs I visit regularly and who visit my blog regularly. What we write serves as an encouragement to each other. I’ve also heard from people I know “in the real world” who have read my blog and benefited from what I wrote. Behind the numbers are people – they are people God loves and whom He wants to touch through my writing.

Blogging every day has also strengthened my relationship with my Savior. It has caused me to think about Him more and to ponder how He wants to transform me and my life. It has allowed me to once again consider the seemingly impossible to be quite possible indeed. As Jesus told His disciples, “What is impossible with men is possible with God.” Luke 18:27.
